Welcome to Anudinam! This page explains what Anudinam is, how the Hindu calendar and timing systems work, and how to use Anudinam for your daily life and important decisions.
What is Anudinam?
Anudinam is a live, location-aware Tamil Panchangam (Hindu calendar) displaying the daily Vedic calendar for your location. All data is sourced from agasthiar.org, a trusted authority on Vedic panchangam and timing systems.
The 5 Core Calendar Dimensions
1. Thithi (Lunar Day) – 16 Tithis per lunar month
The day of the lunar month based on the Moon position. Repeats every ~30 days. Each Thithi has unique spiritual qualities.
2. Vasaram (Weekday) – 7 Vasarams
The day of the week (Sunday-Saturday), each ruled by a planet and with a daily mantra (Rama Namam).
3. Maasam (Solar Month) – 12 Maasams
The month of the solar (Tamil) calendar, based on the Sun’s position in the zodiac.
4. Nakshatram (Lunar Mansion) – 27 Nakshatrams
The constellation where the Moon is located. Deeply influences personality, relationships, and compatibility.
5. Horai (Planetary Hour) – 7 Horais
The “planetary hour” currently ruling, changing roughly hourly. Finest-grained timing for starting activities within a day.

1-5 dates per month when new ventures are traditionally avoided.
2. Vastu Day – Peak Auspicious Dates

5 daily windows: Brahma Muhurta, Pratah Sandhya, Abhijit, Sayam Sandhya, Nitya Pradosham.
4. Rahu Kalam & Yama Gandam – Inauspicious Daily Hours
One window each per day, sized and timed by dividing your location’s daylight into 8 segments.
5. Shannavathi Tarpanam – Auspicious Ancestor Dates
A set of dates per year selected for Tarpanam rituals honoring ancestors.
6. Soonya Thithi – Void Tithis
Universal void-day triggers (Thithi, Vasaram, Nakshatram, masam-start) plus optional personal triggers based on your Rashi.
